What is our legal basis for dealing with your personal information?

Any personal information we hold about you is dealt with in line with Data Protection Legislation which includes (but is not limited to) the Data Protection Act (DPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This legislation defines certain conditions where personal information can be dealt with legally and lawfully. Knowsley CCG deals with personal information under the legal circumstances of the following:

  • ‘…for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of the official authority…’; and
  • ‘…medical diagnosis, the provision of health or social care or treatment or the management of health or social care systems…’

The main tasks undertaken by NHS Knowsley CCG are done so through the official authority exercised to us in the Health and Social Care Act 2012 and NHS Act 2006.
