Help Us Help You

Most of the time there is no need for you to go to an Accident & Emergency (A&E) department with illnesses and injuries. Why wait for up to four hours to be seen and treated if you do not need to.

Instead, help us to help you by using healthcare services appropriately, and be seen and treated quicker.

Self-care
Self-care means looking after yourself in a healthy way – eating healthily, staying active, exercising, or taking your medicines at the right time, also by doing things that are important to you, such as gardening, seeing friends and family, going on holiday, or continuing to work, if possible.
There is lots of useful healthy living information in the 'Your Health' section of this website.

Pharmacies
Pharmacists (chemists) are highly qualified healthcare professionals who can advise you on how to deal with common health problems, such as coughs and colds, flu, sore throats, earache, backache, stomach upsets and cuts and grazes.
GP services
Your GP (doctor) will provide you with medical care for a whole range of health problems. They will also provide you with health education, offer advice on smoking and diet, give vaccinations and carry out simple surgical operations.
Phone your GP practice when you need to see a doctor urgently.
