Christmas and New Year NHS opening times

 Over the festive period, there will be a number of NHS services open to the public to ensure you receive the right care for your needs.

Your registered GP practice will most likely be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day but you will still be able to make an appointment with a doctor at a different location in Knowsley. Alongside this, all three walk-in centres within the borough will be open and there will also be a number of pharmacies open too.
 

Access to a Doctor

During the festive Bank Holidays, you can make a doctor’s appointment at:

 

·         Nutgrove Villa in Huyton, Nutgrove Villa, Westmorland Road, Huyton, L36 6GA.

 

·       Kirkby Primary Care Resource Centre, St Chad’s Clinic, St Chads Drive, Kirkby, L32 8RE.

 

·         Halewood Primary Care Resource Centre, Roseheath Drive, Halewood, Liverpool, L26 9UH.

 

·         Whiston Primary Care Resource Centre, Old Colliery Rd, Prescot, L35 3SX.

 

To make an appointment, call your registered practice before they close for the festive holidays, or call NHS 111. Appointments at these locations are also available throughout the year in the evening and at the weekend.

 

NHS Walk-in Centres

There are three walk-in centres in Knowsley, which are open 365 days a year and there is no need to make an appointment.

The normal opening hours for the walk-in centres in Knowsley are 8am – 9pm Monday to Saturday and 10am – 9pm Sundays and bank holidays. Walk-in centres are open Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day 10.00am – 9.00pm. The walk-in centres in Knowsley are:

NHS 111

If you’re unsure which service is right for you, you should ring NHS 111 to speak to a highly trained adviser who will assess your symptoms and immediately direct you to the best medical care for you. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

You can now access NHS 111 Online making it easier to gain medical advice. This free service can be accessed at www.111.nhs.uk. You will be required to enter a valid postcode and then you enter your symptoms to receive tailored health advice and signposting to relevant services in Knowsley.

Dealing with a mental health crisis or emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency. The Samaritans operate a free to call service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, if you want to talk to someone in confidence. Call them on 116 123 and then arrange to see a GP as soon as possible. Call 999 if you or someone you know experiences a life-threatening medical or mental health emergency.
